A Message From the President of the Alumni Association

Timothy J.
LaLonde '78
Over commencement weekend I had the opportunity to meet many of our over 700 graduates and their families. Our newest Alumni Association members are an impressive group and are a manifestation of the many recent initiatives and enhancements to Clarkson in both our academic programs and the overall Clarkson experience. Our Evolution to Excellence has surely gained momentum with the Class of 2005! Our future graduates are distinguishing themselves, as well. Clarkson will have two Goldwater Scholars next year, a tremendous recognition for those individuals and the University.
This past spring we launched our alumni-to-student mentor program. You can register to become a mentor on our alumni Web site by designating your desired amount and type of student interaction, including subject matter. What a great way to assist our students with the everyday questions we all had when we were determining our careers and next steps in life.
If you haven't seen the recent additions to the hill campus in person, I would strongly recommend a visit back to Potsdam. Consider a visit and tour of Clarkson as an add-on to an Adirondack, 1000 Islands or Canadian vacation! By all means put Clarkson on the visit list for your prospective college student. The Alumni Office will be happy to coordinate your visit and assist with your plans. Don't forget the hockey schedule as well as our many competitive Division III sports teams. Information for alumni upcoming events in your area can be found on our Web site.
As always, my thanks goes out to our many alumni volunteers, who provide the leadership of your Association, coordinate the events at our 12 regional chapters and many other locations around the country, assist with the recruiting of prospective students and the placements of our graduates, plan our annual class reunion weekends and class gifts, and assist with fundraising. It truly is a privilege to work with so many dedicated and talented people and personally have the opportunity to share in the Clarkson spirit with people that I can now call my friends.
See you back on campus!
