With solid experience working in the corporate world following his graduation from Clarkson in 1987, Bryan Hochstein took advantage of his MIS/IT know-how and his keen eye for opportunity and in 1999 established QuickHire, a Web-based job application process for use in the human resources industry.

The company grew rapidly after securing several federal contracts and by 2003 QuickHire boasted annual sales of more than $8 million, an expanded management team, and a workforce of 30 employees.

Emerging as a positioned leader in the provision of automated recruitment and staffing solutions in the public sector, QuickHire was sold two years ago to Monster Worldwide Inc., the world's largest Internet job search and recruitment advertising services company. The company Bryan created now continues to set industry standards as the wholly-owned subsidiary Monster Government Solutions.

"The whole experience has been like a dream from the first day I conceived the idea for the business to the day Monster proposed the acquisition," says Bryan of the successful growth and sale of his company. When the ink was dry on the deal, what he calls "tempered excitement" turned into an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment.

"We had made it on our own and flourished, despite the fact that the tech market was struggling just as we were getting off the ground," he explains. "I spent about two minutes celebrating on the phone with my wife and acknowledging the sacrifices we had made to get to that point. Then I got right back to work."

Bryan was named vice president of Business Development for Monster Government Solutions as part of the transfer of the business. "Creating a vision and developing solutions that others believe in are the most rewarding aspects of what I do," he says. "I have tons of ideas to make recruiting and hiring a more strategic focus for customers and Monster's culture encourages forward-thinking."

Bryan believes Monster's corporate vision, technical resources and extensive brand recognition will enable Monster Government Solutions to continue to grow and help the public sector solve many issues beyond staffing, making the subsidiary a change agent for new solutions that can be offered by Monster as a whole.

"Monster is all about advancing the lives of others," says Bryan, noting similarities with what Clarkson offers its students. "Clarkson fosters a great environment to grow and in part it helped me believe in myself enough to start a business where there wasn't even a market."

Of his monstrous success at such a young age, Bryan says he experiences great satisfaction in seeing his ideas put to use so successfully. Yet he is quick to point out that it is "my wife Laura, and children, Ayden and Evy, who are the true measure of my success." Bryan and his family reside in Arlington, Va., near Monster's Tyson's Corner, Va., office.
