Predicting the Track of Deepwater Oil Spills
Time is the enemy when combating an accidental oil or gas release, especially if it takes place in water a half-mile deep or more. The critical need to understand the behavior of oil and gas released at extreme depths drove Clarkson researchers, under the direction of Professor Poojitha Yapa, to develop a deepwater oil spill computer model.

Virtual Reality Improves Rehabilitation Engineering
Supported by funding from the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation, Professor James Carroll has created an Advanced Visualization Laboratory to develop human-computer interfaces, virtual reality training systems, and other areas to support Clarkson's emerging Center for Assistive and Adaptive Technologies for Rehabilitation Engineering.

O'Brien & Gere Partners with Clarkson and SUNY ESF to Produce a Book on Sustainable Engineering
This summer O'Brian & Gere of Syracuse is publishing a new book on "sustainable engineering" written in collaboration with faculty and doctorial candidates at Clarkson and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

On February 5, 2004, William P. Harrison passed away in Camden, N.Y. The former hockey coach holds the best winning percentage (.724) in Golden Knights history.

Clarkson names Director of Major Gifts and Gift Planning
Clarkson University has announced that William F. Mitchell has been appointed director of Major Gifts and Gift Planning, effective June 1. Mitchell currently serves as the director of major gifts at the Boston University School of Medicine.

Phil Parr '62 Bring Miss Annie Clarkson to Life
Although he enjoyed a successful professional career as an engineer with Eastman Kodak, Philip C. Parr '62 may be better known at his alma mater for his abilities as a portrait artist. Last October 14 at an alumni event in Rochester, that reputation was further enhanced when Phil unveiled the latest addition to the "Parr Collection" on campus: a beautiful likeness of Miss Annie Clarkson.

Robert Van Lammers '59 Memorial Hockey Lounge
On February 21, Clarkson honored a former Golden Knight standout Robert Van Lammers with the dedication of the Robert Van Lammers '59 Memorial Hockey Lounge in Cheel Arena. One of the most prolific scorers in NCAA history and an exceptionally strong player, Robert was known for having one of the hardest, most feared shots in college hockey.

The Clarkson School - How Your Son or Daughter Can Enter College a Year Early
Is your son or daughter ready for a greater challenge? Many bright high school students find that they have exhausted the majority of their high school's advanced curriculum before their senior year and are ready to move on to a college experience. The Clarkson School offers a Bridging Year, which allows them to become a fully matriculated college freshman during what would have been their senior year at high school.
