A Letter from the President
"In July, we welcomed back to campus a record 625 alumni for Clarkson's annual Reunion. In addition to class reunions, we celebrated a number of significant anniversaries."

Clarke Joy '29 alumnus extraordinaire
His 75th class reunion draws attention to the remarkable role Clarke Joy has played at Clarkson through 11 presidents and eight decades.

Clarkson Alumni Association 100 Years ... and going strong
In 1904, the committee arranging for the celebration of Founder's Day (Nov. 30, the birthday of Thomas S. Clarkson), decided that all alumni should be invited. Seven returned (21% of three graduating classes) and following a banquet that night, they formed the Clarkson Tech Alumni Association. On Reunion Weekend, the association celebrated a century of contributions to the betterment of the institution.

Greek Life at 100!
The Omicron Pi Omicron motto has always reflected both the organization of the fraternity, in which each person is treated equally and all members share responsibilities for maintaining the household, as well as the bonds of loyalty and friendship among the brothers. And that spirit of inclusiveness and fraternal camaraderie was evident at this year's alumni reunion when more than 200 active and alumni OPiO brothers and their families returned to Potsdam for a weekend-long celebration.

Alumni Awards - Golden Knights and Woodstock Winners
The Golden Knight Award, Clarkson's most prestigious alumni honor, is given to graduates who have distinguished themselves either by service to Clarkson through Alumni Association activities or have demonstrated outstanding career achievement, bringing distinction to themselves and to Clarkson.

From ID to iE&M: 50 Years of Pioneering
In 1954, Clarkson established the Industrial Distribution (ID) Program, an innovative interdisciplinary major that built upon the school's strengths in engineering and management, and the first of its kind at an accredited college.

A tribute in the Cheel Campus Center honors a generous benefactor and very special friend of Clarkson University on the occasion of her 100th birthday.

Charles R. Shipley Jr. '84 HD (1917-2004), Inventor, entrepreneur and Clarkson academic benefactor
In 1984, Charles R. Shipley Jr. received an honorary doctorate from Clarkson "for his creative efforts as an inventor and for his entrepreneurial talents." With his wife, Lucia, he had established the Shipley Company in their home basement and guided it to international prominence in developing chemicals used to make computer chips and circuit boards for electronic equipment.

U.S. Senator Clinton visits to laud partnership
The success of Clarkson's e-Business partnership with local entrepreneurs spurs Senator Hillary Clinton to expand the program.

The NSF honors Prof. Susan Powers '83
CEE Prof. Susan Powers is the first Clarkson faculty member to win a prized NSF Director's Award in recognition of both teaching and research.

Saratoga Day at the Races
On August 6, 2004, alumni and friends of Clarkson gathered at Saratoga for a Day at the Races. Initially, the group was expected to number about 70, but the reaction to the program was so overwhelming that the request for tickets grew to 200!

One of the many big jobs in preparing for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens was providing standby electrical power for all 45 venues, not to mention the prime power for NBC to broadcast at 13 venues, the International Broadcast Center, the Today Show and NBC News.
