Kelly O. Chezum

As Vice President for External Relations at Clarkson University, Kelly O. Chezum leads the institution’s integrated marketing communications and long-range planning activities as well as advances public understanding of the University’s educational opportunities, its research and innovation agenda, and the accomplishments of graduates.  She also serves as Assistant Secretary of the Clarkson University Board of Trustees.

She has 20 years of leadership experience as a creative marketing professional and administrator in the public, private, and government sectors. Outside of her direct University responsibilities, she is the past president and continuing board member of Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, a member of the Program Committee for the Association of Governing Boards, a faculty member for the Council for Advancement Support in Education, and a coordinator for public relations in the Association of Independent Technological Universities.

She and her husband, Brian, are the parents of Cade, age 4, and reside in Canton, NY.  Her professional and personal life commitments equate to a lot of unconventional wired working hours. Living on a ‘university clock’ that never sleeps, Kelly relies heavily the technologies used in the distributed work world to stay connected.  She’s dedicated to helping others do the same.

She holds undergraduate degrees in marketing and communications from Carroll University, completed her MBA at Clarkson in 2004 and is currently pursuing a doctorate in law and policy at Northeastern University.  You can reach Kelly at chezumk@clarkson.edu.
